I was drawn to the healing arts throughout much of my life, and below are the various areas I explored and trained in. While I have acquired professional training in various fields. Our best learning comes from the source of our own personal life experiences. The initial key element is always to approach Key for me is to be authentic in my skills and real in my approach to those who find the courage to seek support.
These included mental health, emotional regulation, physical ability/inability and our vast potential in developing self-awareness in dealing with the many situations that arise as we go through our lives. Having knowledge in these various fields has helped give deep and lasting support to many individuals and groups who are open to developing their own insight through personal life experiences. While I hold titles, such as teacher, therapist, coach I am truly just a guide supporting people to develop their own insightfulness.
I have worked for twenty years as a therapist and teacher and facilitator in ARC House, which is a professional organisation dedicated to supporting people who are newly diagnosed with cancer, their family and friends. I have worked as a senior therapist initiating personal developmental programmes such as Yoga, Relaxation, Neuro Linguistic Programme (NLP) while also facilitating a Mindfulness programme for people challenged with low mood (MBCT) Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
I have also facilitated 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programmes (MBSR) over her many years in Arc House.
Further studies led me to explore the human energy field of psycho- spiritual integration with the Institute of Inner Studies, Manilla Philippines. I graduated with a masters as a practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming from All Hallows College.

Rita speaking at Blanchardstown Library
I give ‘taster’ talks on ‘Mindfulness as a Preventative Measure to Better Health’ to businesses, educational and community organizations. My experience working in the field of cancer support has given me the opportunity to give seminars and courses to health professionals and staff members. I also runs a private practice based in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 and in Dunboyne, Co. Meath.
I have completed a Master’s studies in Teaching Mindfulness-Based Courses to the level of a Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Wales, Bangor. I have also gained the Certificate of Competence to Teach Mindfulness-Based Courses from the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (Bangor University), at the end of a four years Master’s level training.
I got the blues thinking of the future, so I left off and made some marmalade. It’s amazing how it cheers one up to shred oranges and scrub the floor.
—D. H. Lawrence
I have a fondness for that quote by D H Lawrence. It speaks of simplicity and yet it has great depth and insight. Some of the many great wisdom seekers saints and sages down through history might have worded it differently.
Learning to interact with the ‘sense world’ is indeed a powerful antidote to being in our heads. We are present. We leave our ruminations, veils of perceptions fixed thinking Shred oranges, scrub the floor….step by step we move beyond automatic thinking. A simple analogy perhaps, yet profoundly true.
That’s how I like to teach, to share, make contact and connection to people.
Warmly,
Rita
